PhilosophyÌý

The educational programs of the ÆÞÓÑÉçÇø shall comply with all state and federal laws and regulations and shall guarantee that each student exemplifies the knowledge, skills, and character necessary for personal excellence and responsible citizenship. ÌýThe educational program will be called the Millard Education Program.Ìý

The Millard Education Program (MEP) will consist of content curriculum, appropriate instructional strategies, and valid assessment methodologies. This program will utilize a standards-driven, accountability-based model.Ìý

OperationalizationÌý

District-wide planning will result in the alignment of the written, taught and assessed curriculum. ÌýA comprehensive professional learning program shall provide all staff with the skills to deliver the curriculum and assess student learning.

For the purpose of the Millard Education Program the following definitions shall apply.Ìý

Content curriculumÌý– identified knowledge, skills, and processesÌý

Instructional strategiesÌý– teaching practices that support student learningÌý

Assessment methodologiesÌý– processes by which student performance and mastery are judgedÌý

Millard StandardsÌý– District developed essential learner outcomes for academic and College and Career Readiness skills that are based on state academic content standards and indicatorsÌý

AccountabilityÌý– roles and responsibilities of the board of education, superintendent, central office personnel, building personnel, and students, relative to the MEPÌý

AlignmentÌý– demonstrated relationship among written, taught, and assessed curriculumÌý

Professional Learning – Professional opportunities whereby employees gain the knowledge and skills necessary to implement the District curriculum to improve student learning.
